Mini Invention Expo (Sept Meeting)In September we will be having our mini invention expo. Its a good time to show your ideas (or services) and practice your elevator pitch. This event is free for members and open to the public. Last year we had channel 12 come to visit and we were on TV. Here is the format: Each person gets a table to setup their display. Then each person gets about 3 minutes to pitch their idea to the audience. Then the audience members are free to visit which tables they are interested in. It is great fun and good exposure. Excellent practice for the Yankee Invention expo. If you would like to show your idea please give iact@distinti.com an EMAIL so that we can plan on the number of tables and stuff.
The Yankee Invention Expo (Oct)The Yankee Invention Expo (www.yankeeinventionexpo.org) is coming up in October. There are two ways you can show your stuff at the expo. The first is to purchase a booth through the club at the clubs discount rate of $225 (normally $275) but we have to have your request in before the 25 th of August (sorry for short notice). The second method is to 'man' the IACT booth where you can share our table. Last year some exhibitors got on the Jay Leno's tonight show. Please Contact Mike Blake (mblake@blake-ip.com) to put your order in for a booth or contact me if you would like to man the booth (iact@distinti.com) --I'm volunteering to coordinate our booth this year since that is the only club event that I will get to (see last article). We get all club booths together at the center of the show hall. IACT is expanding !!!!We have a New Member who wishes to start a New London Chapter of IACT. The Board met in July and voted in favor of this proposed expansion. We would like to welcome aboard Nicole Coppes-Gathy. More details to come!!!! Skills InventoryThe skills inventory will now be posted online in a password protected PDF file (memberdata.pdf). The password to open this file will be emailed shortly. I'll Be teaching Thursday Nights!!I have accepted an adjunct professor position at Fairfield University (as well as working my full time Job). The class I will be teaching is on Thursday nights so I will not be able to make the Thursday Night meetings (DEC 15 is the last night I teach).
