Who: Bob Distinti, Aerospace Engineer
What: "HOUSE ON THE EDGE OF THE SKY" A COMPLETELY OFF-THE-GRID SELF SUFFICIENT LIVING SPACE
Where: Fairfield University Library, Room 107C
When: Tuesday, June 30, 2009; 7:00 PM.
Cost: Admission is free.
"House on the Edge of the Sky": A completely Off-the-Grid Self Sufficient Living Space
The speaker will be Robert
Distinti, an engineer in the aerospace industry. He will discuss the
combination of photo-voltaic, solar-thermal, and wind turbine
systems - plus some of his own inventions – that will be
used to provide year round heating, cooling and electricity in his
formerly fossil-fueled house. He will provide details on where he is
now in the project, what he plans to do, and how he will obtain
financing.
The house, situated on 12 open acres, will
serve as a laboratory for the development of renewable energy
generation, storage and control systems.
Mr. Distinti
will discuss important aspects of implementing renewable systems such
as determining how big they should be, what types are available, and
what to avoid.
Mr. Distinti received an MS in Electrical
and Computer Engineering from Fairfield University. He has over 25
years of experience in diverse engineering disciplines, including
Microwave Holography, Electromagnetic Physics, instrumentation and
embedded systems. He is a Senior Software Engineer at Northrop Grumman
where he developed improved near field range and analysis software.
Robert holds 9 Patents, which include novel analog to digital
conversion techniques and multi-core processors. His research includes
development of improved models used by Texas A&M Nuclear Physics
department for explosive flux compression generators. He has written
internal papers for Northrop Grumman on improved far-field transforms
and a radical EASA radar antenna design that improves performance while
reducing weight and cost.
