SBIR Funding Your Invention

Abstract:

Learn how you can use federal grants to fund your research and development! Millions of dollars of grant funding go to small businesses doing groundbreaking innovation.

Bio:

For more than a dozen years Merrie was co-founder and president of Inspired Solutions, a 3-office communications company in Connecticut in support of medium to large corporations. That experience provided the springboard that helps her support small high tech companies in their struggle to advance their technologies into marketable products. One of her goals with SBIR grant winners is to ensure that they have strong advisory boards. Another goal is to help determine what support companies need to accomplish THEIR goals.

Merrie enjoys assisting start-up companies develop their pitches, to give them focus. These passionate entrepreneurs know why they are driven -- but don't always know what drives their customers. Reading/editing business plans, judging competitions, developing strategic websites, reviewing grant proposals, etc. forhercustomers are all enjoyable aspects of her SBIR role. Especially gratifying is assisting companies win grants.
